Climb the crags of one valley or the other, duck under the roof at Vésubia when the sky turns, and come back down for dinner.
The house sits at 1,300 m on the Valdeblore plateau, between the Vésubie and the Tinée. Two valleys, two aspects, sometimes two different forecasts — and rock more or less everywhere. This is where local climbers spend their weekends: crags reached by a short walk in, faces that come into the sun each at their own hour, and days that can shrink to a morning if that's all you're after.
We're not going to sell you a guidebook from this page. The right sector depends on the month, the aspect, the wind, and above all on what you climb — not on a list printed once and for all. That is exactly what evenings at the table d'hôtes are for: what dries fast after rain, what stays shaded in August, what works with children, and what wants a rope and some experience. If you'd rather go out with a professional, the valley has state-qualified mountain guides and climbing instructors — we'll tell you who to call.
And when the sky turns, there's still a roof. In Saint-Martin-Vésubie, down in the Vésubie, Vésubia Mountain Park houses an indoor climbing space — roped routes and bouldering — with an indoor canyon and a pool under the same roof. Enough to turn a storm day into a proper session, or to get children climbing in the warm. Sessions, minimum ages, prices and booking: check with the park directly, it all moves with the seasons.
The rest is logistics — and that's where sleeping up here earns its keep. Nice is an hour away, but you don't drive back down: you leave when you want and come back when the light goes. A week here works as a base camp — a day on rock, a day on the trails (the hamlet sits at the crossroads of the GR5 and GR52, at the gateway to the Mercantour), a morning under a roof if it rains, and the same dinner waiting every evening.

Your base camp
What the house provides: breakfast timed to your schedule (morning-sun faces won't wait), a picnic basket ordered when you book, a place to dry out ropes and climbing shoes, and a hot meal kept ready if that last pitch runs long.
The rest is up to us: tell us your skill level and what you’re looking for, and we’ll point you toward the right spot—or to the indoor wall if the weather doesn't cooperate.
