The plan here is not having one: the open-air decks facing the ridges, a book you started, and an afternoon that stretches until dinner.
People rarely come up to 1,300 m in order to do nothing. Plenty end up doing exactly that — and leave saying it was the best part of the stay.
The Valdeblore plateau helps. At this altitude the air is dry, the nights stay cool even in August, and the quiet is not a marketing line: it is simply what is there, between two passes of wind through the larches. You sleep better, you wake without an alarm, and the afternoon stretches in a way you had forgotten about. Doing nothing works well here.
Yoga belongs naturally in that setting. Sessions take place on the open-air decks, facing the mountains — practising outdoors at this height, with the ridges as your only horizon, bears little resemblance to a studio in town. How often sessions run, who leads them and what to bring depends on the time of year: mention it before you come. It is the kind of thing settled in two minutes on the phone, and it changes a week.
The rest of the day fills itself, or doesn't. There are the gentle plateau paths, which start at the door and can be walked in ordinary shoes, with no climbing and no ambition. There is the terrace, the shade of a tree, an improvised hammock. There is the common room and its wood stove when the weather turns, with the books and games that live there. And there is the table d'hôtes in the evening, which gives a day of idleness its one fixed appointment.
It is also what makes the house comfortable for mismatched groups: while some head up the Baus de la Frema or ride at La Colmiane, the others stay put. Nobody has to keep up — and everyone meets at dinner with something to tell.
Key facts
Your base camp
Resting takes surprisingly little, but it does take a few things. Half board is one of them: dinner is taken care of, the question "where are we eating tonight?" never comes up, and that is one decision fewer each day.
The house is built for lingering: a common room with its wood stove, space to settle in with a book, and a long table that brings everyone together in the evening. The renovated superior rooms suit those who came mainly to breathe out; the standard rooms and dorms are still there for groups and tighter budgets.
If you are coming for the yoga or for a quiet stay, say so when you book: we'll place you as well as we can in the house and tell you what is happening during your dates.
Frequently asked questions
No. The house is a base for hiking, but nothing obliges you to walk: many of our guests alternate a big day with a day of nothing at all, and some come only for the quiet and the table.
They take place on the open-air decks, facing the mountains. The rhythm and the arrangements depend on the season and the weather: call us, or mention it when you book, and we'll explain what is planned during your dates.
Yes — let us know the evening before, simply so that housekeeping can work around you. The common room and the outdoor areas stay open.
The house sleeps 24 and runs to hikers' hours: early starts, back for dinner, and evenings that do not run late. If you want the whole place to yourselves, that is possible — see the exclusive-use page.
