Terms of your stay
Terms of sale
These terms apply to stays booked with Gîte les Marmottes, a mountain guesthouse (gîte d'étape et de séjour) in Saint-Dalmas, 06420 Valdeblore, France.
1. Booking
Booking requests are made online (or by phone). Each request is reviewed personally by the owners, who accept or decline it according to the actual availability of the house. Acceptance is notified by email, together with the deposit amount and how to pay it.
2. Deposit
The booking becomes final upon receipt of the deposit, whose amount is stated in the acceptance email, paid by bank transfer or by the payment method specified in that email. The deposit must be paid within the deadline stated in the acceptance email: failing that, the guesthouse may cancel the request and release the dates.
Sums paid at booking are a deposit (« arrhes » under French law), deducted from the price of your stay. What happens to the deposit if a booking is cancelled is set out in article 4.
3. Rates and payment
Rates are per person per night, half board (night, breakfast and table d'hôtes dinner), according to the current rates. The local tourist tax is charged in addition. The balance is paid at the guesthouse, by bank card or in cash.
4. Cancellation and changes
Cancellation by the guest. Any cancellation must be notified in writing to Gîte les Marmottes (by email to info@gite-marmottes.fr or by post). For any cancellation less than 10 days before the arrival date, the full deposit paid at booking is retained by Gîte les Marmottes as a cancellation fee.
No-show and early departure. In the event of a no-show, or of an early departure at the guest's request, the full amount of the booking — i.e. the total price of the stay, taxes included — will be charged. Unless they have let us know, guests who have not arrived at the guesthouse by 8:30 pm on their scheduled arrival date are considered to have cancelled their entire stay.
Re-letting. Gîte les Marmottes reserves the right to re-let a booked room or bed immediately in the event of:
- cancellation by the guest;
- a change to the booking made by the guest;
- a no-show;
- an error made by the guest when booking (dates, number or type of rooms).
Cancellation by the guesthouse. The mountains are a magnificent but unpredictable environment (weather, avalanche risk, rockfalls…). For your safety, Gîte les Marmottes reserves the right to cancel your booking up to 24 hours before your arrival. In that case, all sums paid are refunded in full by bank transfer.
5. Your stay
Arrival and departure times are given in the confirmation email; late arrivals are possible if you call ahead. In dorms, a sleeping bag liner is required. The house is non-smoking. Pets are not allowed.
6. Disputes
These terms are governed by French law. If anything goes wrong, write to us first — the table d'hôtes settles many things.
